Benedict Cumberbatch may have revealed his character, Doctor Strange’s return to ‘Avengers 5’ along with some exciting new updates.

While shooting a career retrospective interview with Netflix for his most recent thriller series ‘Eric,’ Benedict Cumberbatch said, "I'm very much looking forward to Avengers next year, which is cooking up a storm.”

It’s funny because it is usually Tom Holland who is spilling the beans.

So, it appears that Benedict Cumberbatch will be returning as Dr. Stephen Strange in what will be the fifth ‘Avengers’ movie which was supposed to be ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ but is going through major rework after the firing of the Kang actor Jonathan Majors. It is also being reported that the filming will commence next year and the film will seemingly release on 1 May, 2026.

Reports suggested that the Deadpool and Wolverine director Shawn Levy is in talks to direct ‘Avengers 5,’ although, other directors are being considered as well. ‘Loki’ creator Michael Waldron was the last screenwriter to set hands on the script.

The original plan was to expand on Kang’s character after his introduction is ‘Loki’ season 2 with a more prominent role in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.’ Major’s Kang was being designed to be a Thanos level villain. All of this was going to lead to ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ in 2026 and then to ‘Avengers: Secret Wars on May 7, 2027.’

Marvel parted ways with Jonathan Majors quickly after a New York jury finding him guilty in his assault trial.

Cumberbatch was last seen as Dr. Strange in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ While talking about the role, he said, "The joy of playing him is immense, but also the joy of playing him means I can help create and platform stories and writing and less-commercial fare into being. So he's a gift in many, many ways in my life, as a producer, as an actor. I love playing him. He's great fun.”
