The trailer for ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ released earlier this week and has already become the talk of the town due to its innovative imagery and strong storyline. The film boasts a star studded ensemble cast including Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani. The dystopia of the film is ruled by the intense acting showcased by all the cast members.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, the post apocalyptic film is inspired by Hindu scriptures and is set in the year 2898 AD. The trailer shows a loosely based story of Mahabharata set in a futuristic world. The film feels reminiscent of ‘Dune.’ It feels nostalgic and futuristic at the same time. Ashwin pulled off an incredible feat.

‘Kalki 2898 AD’ marks the first collaboration between Deepika Padukone and Prabhas. Padukone previously has teamed up with Amitabh Bachchan for ‘Piku 2015.’ They will also feature in the Hindi remake of the film ‘The Intern’ which originally starred Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway.

Prabhas recently spoke about the film, “The whole film is made for international audiences. That’s why it’s the highest budget, and we’ve got the best actors in the country.” Discussing his title as a pan-Indian star, he added, “We were hearing for the first time people calling me ‘pan-Indian’. That doesn’t really affect me, but it’s a good feeling to think that people around the country like me now.”
