Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who is soon going to embrace motherhood, is likely to give the MET Gala a miss this year. The annual event will be held on May 6 this year.
Deepika Padukone has attended the Met Gala for three consecutive years now but this year she will be absent from the much-awaited event.
According to reports, Deepika Padukone will be busy wrapping up her projects at that time and the date clashes with her professional shoots here.
"Deepika Padukone has been a regular on the Met Gala Red Carpet. It is only natural for fans to anticipate her appearance at this year’s Met Gala, especially considering she is one of India’s biggest global brand ambassadors. However, Deepika is in the midst of filming for 'Singham 3' which is slated to release later this year along with 'Kalki 2898 AD' which is slated to release in May 2024, both of which coincide with this year’s Met Gala. She will therefore not be attending this year’s event.”
Speculations were rife that the 'Fighter' actress will have to miss the Met Gala due to her pregnancy, but this is surely not the reason why. Instead, she'll have to miss the event because of her professional commitments.
Every year the Met Gala is held on the first Monday of May and this year it will be held on May 6.
Talking of Deepika Padukone, she is pregnant with her first child and her due date is in September 2024. The actress has been busy wrapping up her work before she takes a brief maternity break to welcome her bundle of joy with husband Ranveer Singh.
Deepika in the past has slayed the red carpet of Met Gala in the past. She made her Met Gala debut in 2019 when she wore a Tommy Hilfiger gown. In the next few years, she was seen looking gorgeous in gowns by designers Prabal Gurung and Zac Posen.
The dress code for this year's Met Gala is "The Garden of Time" and it will be hosted by Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth, Bad Bunny and Jennifer Lopez.
