After weeks of speculation and swirling rumors, Lady Gaga has finally made it official—her new album is on the way. The announcement came in dramatic fashion at the Graveyard Gala, an elaborate celebration hosted by Netflix and Spotify on Friday night in New York City.
The event was designed to honour Wednesday Season 2, Part 2, and it couldn’t have been more fittingly eerie. After being hand-selected from among the top Gaga and Wednesday listeners on Spotify, about 300 fortunate fans, influencers, and members of the press were invited to Guastavino's, where they were immersed in a world reminiscent of Tim Burton.
Wednesday star Jenna Ortega, who also serves as a producer on the series, was in attendance alongside cast members Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair) and Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay). However, Lady Gaga's unexpected appearance was the night's biggest surprise. As she entered the haunted-themed gala, Gaga unveiled a brand-new song that would appear in Wednesday Season 2 in addition to her upcoming album.
Wednesday has more to do with the pop icon than just music. It was announced earlier this year at Netflix Tudum 2025: The Live Event that Lady Gaga would appear as a guest in Season 2, Part 2 as Rosaline Rotwood, a mysterious and renowned teacher at the Nevermore Academy whose story intersects with Wednesday Addams.
According to Netflix’s official site, Ortega praised Gaga’s transformation into the mysterious Rotwood, describing it as nothing short of seamless. “If you’re into Wednesday, if you’re into Lady Gaga, you should be very excited to see her in Part 2 — it really works. She’s unbelievable. She’s one of the few, rare instances of someone who is so clearly doing what they’re meant to be doing. Just being able to watch her and take her in is a surreal experience.”
It's interesting to note that Gaga first appeared in the series in Season 1. After fans combined her 2011 song "Bloody Mary" from the Born This Way album with Wednesday's now-famous "Goo Goo Muck" dance, the song experienced a huge resurgence on social media, solidifying Gaga's pop culture association with the program.
The actual gala was exactly the immersive event that fans would anticipate from a partnership between Gaga, Spotify, and Netflix. With raven props atop gravestones engraved with secret Wednesday Easter eggs, the venue was enveloped in dense fog. The gothic atmosphere is created by moss-covered trees, spider-webbed iron fences, and flickering lanterns.
Gaga has firmly established herself at the forefront of music and television buzz with the release of her new album, a feature in Wednesday Season 2, and the teaser of her eerie new single at the gala. In addition to anticipating the release of her new album, fans are now anxiously awaiting her on-screen transformation as Rosaline Rotwood.
If the Graveyard Gala was any indication, Lady Gaga’s latest era promises to be as daring, immersive, and unforgettable as the star herself.
