Filming for the reboot of the beloved daily soap opera Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi officially began on July 3, paving the way for the show's triumphant return. Even before the cameras started rolling, there was an unforeseen delay in production, so the return to the big screen hasn't been completely seamless.
According to Saas Bahu aur Saazish, the shoot was initially scheduled to begin in mid-June. But just as the preparations were gaining momentum, a hiccup in the form of Vastu-related issues temporarily brought things to a halt.
A source close to the production revealed, “The team had almost locked the setup and begun preps, but a Vastu consultant pointed out a few key energy flow issues with the current layout. Since it’s a fresh start for such an iconic brand, producer Ekta Kapoor didn’t want to take any chances.”
Given the stature and legacy of the original show—which first aired in 2000 and captivated audiences for a full eight years—the reboot carries a weight of expectations. To ensure everything is in alignment, both creatively and energetically, Ekta Kapoor reportedly insisted on making the necessary structural adjustments before proceeding with the full shoot.
So far, only the pilot episode has been filmed, but the buzz around the project is already building. In a major treat for long-time fans, Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay will reprise their legendary roles as Tulsi Virani and Mihir Virani, bringing a strong sense of nostalgia to the rebooted series.
With the groundwork now laid and the set energised to meet the demands of a new era, the team is working diligently to avoid further delays. Although Ekta Kapoor and her team did not respond to requests for comment at the time of publication, all signs suggest that this fresh chapter of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is now firmly underway.
