A shocking crime has come to light from Nagpur. Priyanshu Thakur aka Priyanshu Kshatriya aka Babu Chhetri, who appeared alongside Amitabh Bachchan in the film Jhund, was brutally murdered on Wednesday night. According to the police, his throat was slit, and the suspected motive appears to be a personal rivalry.

How the incident happened

The case was reported in the Jaripatka police station area, specifically in Nagpur’s Nara locality. As per the police, Priyanshu, also known as Babu Chhetri, was drinking with his acquaintance Dhruv Sahu inside an abandoned house around midnight. Both men reportedly had a criminal record and were known to each other.

During their drinking session, an argument broke out. According to investigators, Priyanshu allegedly threatened Sahu during the fight and later fell asleep. Enraged, Sahu reportedly tied Priyanshu with electric wires and then attacked him with a sharp weapon. The assault left the actor critically injured.

How his body was found

Around 3 AM, residents in the area noticed a man lying half-naked and bleeding, bound with plastic wires. They immediately alerted the police. A team from Jaripatka police station rushed to the spot and took Priyanshu to Mayo Hospital. Doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The police confirmed that the body showed deep neck wounds consistent with a sharp weapon attack. The area was cordoned off, and forensic teams were brought in to collect evidence.
Investigation and arrest

Priyanshu’s sister, Shilpa Chhetri, filed a complaint naming Dhruv Sahu as the prime suspect. Based on her statement and local eyewitness accounts, Sahu was tracked down and arrested within hours. Preliminary investigation suggests that the motive behind the murder was an old personal dispute that escalated after heavy drinking.

Police officials also mentioned that both men had previous cases of theft and assault registered against them. A murder case has been formally filed under Section 302 of the IPC, and further investigation is underway.

His work in ‘Jhund’

Priyanshu Kshatriya gained recognition after his role in Jhund, directed by Nagraj Manjule. The film, starring Amitabh Bachchan, told the story of underprivileged youth forming a football team. Priyanshu’s performance as Babu was appreciated for its rawness and emotional depth.
