Karan Johar to host Indian version of The Traitors for Prime Video

The popular streaming service, Prime Video, has announced that the celebrated filmmaker and host, Karan Johar, will host the Indian version of the reality show "The Traitors." This thrilling game show, which has captivated audiences worldwide, is set to make its Indian debut on Prime Video.

The Indian adaptation, which will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in Hindi with English subtitles, will see 20 contestants compete for a substantial cash prize at a royal palace.

The popular streaming service, Prime Video, has announced that the celebrated filmmaker and host, Karan Johar, will host the Indian version of the reality show "The Traitors." This thrilling game show, which has captivated audiences worldwide, is set to make its Indian debut on Prime Video.

The Indian adaptation, which will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in Hindi with English subtitles, will see 20 contestants compete for a substantial cash prize at a royal palace. The show will test the players' trust, loyalty, and deception as they navigate a thrilling game of betrayal.

Karan Johar shared a motion video of the show's poster on Instagram which had mentioned now filming. The caption read, "It’s so treacherous, you’ll sleep with one eye open!#TheTraitorsOnPrime, now filming for @primevideoin"


The format of The Traitors has gained immense popularity worldwide, captivating audiences with its riveting drama and suspenseful storytelling. The UK and US versions, hosted by Claudia Winkleman and Alan Cumming respectively, have garnered critical acclaim for their exceptional presentation and ability to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

The Indian version of the reality show promises an exhilarating game of trust, betrayal, and deception. Contestants will embark on a series of missions to win a substantial cash prize. However, unbeknownst to them, a select group of players will be secretly designated as "traitors" by the host at the beginning of the show.

Talking about hosting the show, Karan Johar said, "Building on the very successful relationship with Prime Video, I am thrilled to take on the mantle as the host for the Indian adaptation of the show. And the 20 players on the show are in for an unforgettable and unpredictable journey, especially with me operating in the shadows."

Nikhil Madhok, Head of Originals at Prime Video India, highlighted that unscripted content remains a major priority for the platform. He noted a significant increase in consumption, attention, and appreciation for shows like Angry Young Men and Follow Kar Lo Yaar.

Prime Video has teamed up with the independent distributor All3Media International to bring the acclaimed reality show "The Traitors" to India. Produced by BBC Studios India Productions, the BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning format has been adapted in over 20 countries.
