Chinese actress Zhao Lusi, who rose to international prominence with the Netflix drama Hidden Love, was recently hospitalized. A photo of her in a wheelchair began circulating online following her hospital stay.

On her path to recovery, Zhao Lusi has shared her difficult journey, discussing her past struggles with abuse and mental health issues. She revealed that at one point, her weight plummeted to 36.7 kg, but with the support of her parents, she has since managed to regain her strength and improve her health.

Zhao Lusi's health sparked widespread concern after she was seen in a wheelchair, prompting a close friend to share alarming details. The friend claimed that an individual from her company had mistreated her, while other members allegedly overlooked the abuse.

Her management quickly confirmed that Zhao Lusi had suspended all work-related commitments and issued a statement, clarifying her current health status.

“On the 18th, Ms. Zhao Lusi suddenly felt unwell and went to the hospital for examination and treatment immediately. She is currently following the doctor's orders for treatment and recuperation." They mentioned.

On January 1, Zhao Lusi took to Weibo to address the allegations and shared her truth through a heartfelt letter. In the post, which was later obtained by Koreaboo, the C-drama star began by apologizing for the attention and spoke candidly about the toll her illness and struggles had taken on her.

She acknowledged that she had not always been open about her struggles, taking some responsibility but also highlighting the harmful culture of silencing victims. “I think it is wrong if someone who is not receiving any support is silenced while their abuser grows bolder, regardless of profession, age, or gender. It’s ridiculous to force someone to reopen old wounds to prove they’re not ‘overthinking,’ not ‘too weak,’ or not ‘unsatisfied.’”

She stated that only medical professionals should assess the severity of someone’s trauma, rejecting accusations from others who claimed she was seeking attention.

The C-drama actress shared troubling experiences, including being physically hit by a teacher during tutoring sessions and as an adult, facing abuse after failing an acting audition, feeling forced to stay silent. Zhao also disclosed that the abuser, as revealed by her friend, not only caused harm but used threats of self-harm as a manipulative tactic.

Even after the abuse ceased, Zhao Lusi continued to endure slander and rumors within the industry, which only deepened her emotional turmoil. “In the end, she demanded a large ‘contract termination fee’ before finally stopping her cycles of crying, making scenes, and threatening self-harm. In her statement, Zhao revealed that the mental toll of her experiences had caused her weight to drop to a dangerously low 37 kg. She described being blackmailed and manipulated by the alleged abuser, who used threats and emotional control to dominate her.

Fans have come together to support the actress, spreading her story widely and offering words of encouragement. Zhao seems to be prioritizing her recovery and expressed gratitude to those who stood by her, acknowledging that their love and care gave her the strength to move forward.
