Erica Fernandes opens up about her past violent relationship, says, Shaheer Sheikh's Do Patti "took me back to those days"

Erica Fernandes, a popular TV actress known for her roles in shows like Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi and Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2, has taken a hiatus from acting. She has moved to Dubai, leaving her fans eagerly craving for updates on her life. However, the TV actress has recently reflected on traumas and heartbreaks she experienced in past relationships.

During her recent appearance at the podcast of Shardul Pandit, Erica revealed that Shaheer Sheikh's film Do Patti reminded her of a violent relationship she had experienced in the past.

She reflected on her past trauma and said, “I have gone through a very violent relationship. It was physically abusive as well. It reached a stage where there was physical abuse. But I didn’t want to bring it out at that time.”

The TV actress added, “When you’re an actor, everything becomes news. If you go to the police, it’ll be all over the media, leading to a media trial. If you don’t reveal the name, people start linking it to someone. Plus, I wasn’t sure what the outcome would be if I went to the police. I don’t trust the judicial system that much.”

She also shared how she coped with the situation on her own and revealed that she only told a few close friends. She also noted that the experience still affects her, and watching movies with physical abuse scenes brings back painful memories. She further noted, "When I watched Shaheer's Do Patti, it took me back to those days, and I was like, s**t."

Erica admitted that she was afraid to speak out earlier because she thought people would think she was doing it for attention. She further explained that it took her years to gather courage to finally open up. Erica also encouraged others who are going through similar experiences to speak out and give themselves time to recover.

For the unversed, Erica has been previously rumored to be dating her Kasautii Zindagii Kay costar Parth Samthaan in 2020. However, she debunked the rumors and revealed that she was seeing someone who does not belong to the industry.

On the work front, Erica Fernandes and Shaheer Sheikh worked together on the popular TV show Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi. However, Shaheer was recently seen in the movie Do Patti with Kriti Sanon, Kajol, and Tanvi Azmi. Meanwhile, Erica was last seen in the short film The Haunting.
