In a bizarre turn of events, a Brazilian woman named Larissa Nery has reacted to claims that her old modeling photo was used in a voter fraud scandal during the recent Haryana Assembly elections.
The controversy erupted after Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi accused the Election Commission and the BJP of “colluding to ensure Congress lost in Haryana,” alleging that the same woman’s photo was used in voter lists across at least 10 polling booths to enable fraudulent voting.
As social media users raced to identify the woman behind the now-viral photo, a video surfaced online revealing the model’s reaction over the situation. Speaking in Portuguese, Larissa joked about the incident in a light-hearted post on X (formerly Twitter).
“Friends, I’m going to tell you a joke. They are using an old picture of me. I must have been about 18-20 years old… I don’t know if it’s an election, something about voting in India!” she said, laughing off the unlikely political connection.

The Brazilian national, who is reportedly no longer a model and now runs a salon in Belo Horizonte, further explained that she was taken aback when a journalist attempted to contact her about the controversy. “He called the salon, at my job… wanting to talk to me for an interview and I didn’t answer… the guy found my Instagram and called me there,” she said.
She added, “Now another person who has nothing to do with the subject, a friend of mine from another city, sends me a photo, I’m going to put it here for you.”
As the political storm continues to brew, Larissa’s reaction has brought an unexpected international twist to the ongoing electoral debate.
