Actress Vidya Balan was recently spotted doing shopping that felt surprisingly authentic, she was seen selecting marigold flowers herself from a street-side stall as Diwali draws near and the city.
Vidya, who is well-known for her devotion to tradition and her straightforward charm, moved her fans with this small gesture.
Manav Manglani, a celebrity photographer, posted the video to Instagram, capturing Vidya looking relaxed and friendly while wearing a clean white shirt and blue jeans.
She was carefully just choosing colourful marigold garlands, which was a lovely way to show how ingrained she is in Indian celebration customs.
However, Vidya's capacity for connection extends well beyond running holiday errands. She discussed the pressure many women experience to fit into limited beauty standards and have a positive body image in a recent interview with Anupama Chopra.
“But there are also enough voices that are saying, ‘I don’t fit in.’ There are years I have gone around saying, ‘I am fully accepting of myself,’ but I am not sure if that was the case. But I kept telling myself that. You fake it till you make it,” she shared honestly.

Her perspective is deeply personal and powerful, reflecting a journey of self-belief over self-doubt. “I think I am shamelessly optimistic. I have so much self-belief. I’ve put myself out there at my biggest without batting an eyelid. People have told me to work on myself, to lose weight. But honestly, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with me.”
On the work front, Vidya Balan was recently seen in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and next she will be seen in Raja Shivaji soon.
