Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar and John Abraham collaborated for Priyadarshan’s Garam Masala, instantly becoming fans’ favourite duo. They captivated fans with their comedic timing and entertaining dialogue.
However, there have been rumours for years that Akshay axed his co-star John's part in the movie. The film’s director, Priyadarshan, has now finally addressed the allegations.
In an interview with The Times of India, Priyadarshan praised Akshay’s performance in the movie and said, “He was a laugh riot. Once again, Akshay displayed his comic timing under my direction after Hera Pheri, and the audience loved it! Personally, I think Akshay’s comic timing in Garam Masala was as good as Hera Pheri.”
However, the filmmaker clarified the allegations that Akshay had axed John's part in Garam Masala.
Priyadarshan said, “All nonsense! Do you think Akshay needs to be insecure about any actor? Such rumours were started by jealous elements just to tarnish his image. Akshay has lasted so long due to his honesty, hard work, and talent.”
He also discussed collaborating with Akshay on two of his next films, revealing that the actor is "dead serious" in Haiwaan and "seriously funny" in Bhoot Bangla.
