Actors Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra have been one of the most popular on-screen pairs in Bollywood. They have appeared in several films including Waqt, Andaaz, Aitraaz among others. However, rumours about their alleged relationship during that time grabbed the headlines, and eventually, the duo stopped working in films together.

In a podcast with Hindi Rush, veteran journalist Pooja Samant spoke about the alleged closeness between Priyanka Chopra and Akshay Kumar and what went wrong.

Speaking about the duo, Pooja said, "Jab maine Suneel Darshan ka interview kiya tha Andaaz 2 ke liye tab unhone yeh baat kahi thi ki Akshay Kumar Priyanka Chopra ke saath film nhi karna chahte kyunki unki nazdeeki rishton ke baarein mein unke Parivar walon ko aapatti hogayi hi. So he did not move ahead. unhone Priyanka Chopra ke saath aage filmein nahi ki, kam hi ki (When I interviewed Suneel Darshan for Andaaz 2, he mentioned that Akshay Kumar did not want to work with Priyanka Chopra because his family objected to their close relationship. So he did not work with her and did  very little work with Priyanka Chopra afterward.)

However, refuting all speculations, Akshay Kumar once spoke about not working with Priyanka anymore during in an interview with Aap Ki Adalat.

He said, "There is nothing like that. I have worked on five films with Priyanka. It's not like I don't want to work with her. Except for Rani Mukerji, I have worked with every heroine. If there is an opportunity, I will surely work with Priyanka Chopra. Let us call Priyanka Chopra and check if she has an issue with me. That way you will know for sure."

Akshay Kumar recently marked his 58th birthday on September 9. Staying true to his disciplined lifestyle and early-riser routine, the celebrations began at 7 a.m., as revealed by his wife Twinkle Khanna. She gave fans a glimpse into the occasion by sharing a playful picture of the two posing behind a giant cutout of a ‘Joker’ playing card.

He also held a meet-and-greet event with his fans on his special day and expressed his gratitude for giving him all the love and support over the years.

On the work front, Akshay Kumar will next be seen in a lineup of projects- Jolly LLB 3, set to release on September 19 and Welcome to the Jungle that stars an ensemble cast including Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Anil Kapoor, and Paresh Rawal among others.

Meanwhile, Priyanka Chopra is currently busy filming for SSMB29 directed by SS Rajamouli. It stars Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran in lead roles and is speculated to be a grand pan-India film with a huge budget.
