After dismissing Ranveer Singh to play Shaktimaan, Mukesh Khanna rejects Tiger Shroff; says, 'Kids will tell him, tu baith jaa'

Ever since the announcement of a movie adaptation for Mukesh Khanna's superhero television series Shaktimaan, speculations have been rife about the casting of the iconic character. Actor Ranveer Singh's name has been frequently associated with the project, with rumours suggesting his keen interest in headlining the film. His meeting with Mukesh Khanna further fueled the excitement. However, Mukesh Khanna, who played the titular role and created the series, has been vocal about his reservations regarding Ranveer Singh.

Mukesh Khanna has made it clear on multiple occasions that he does not see Ranveer Singh as the new Shaktimaan. In light of Ranveer's controversial nude photoshoot for a magazine in 2022, Mukesh argued that such an image is incompatible with the superhero’s persona. He firmly stated that an actor with Ranveer’s public image could not do justice to Shaktimaan’s character, which is rooted in wisdom, seriousness, and an evolved sense of morality.

In a recent interview with ABP Live, Mukesh Khanna also shared his thoughts on Tiger Shroff, another name that has been floated for the role. Mukesh expressed his doubts about Tiger’s suitability, citing his youthful image. "Forgive me, but if Tiger Shroff tells a child to flush the toilet as Shaktimaan, the kid will turn around and say to him, ‘Tu baith jaa (Sit down)’,” Mukesh remarked. He elaborated that Tiger, despite his popularity and talent, lacks the gravitas required for Shaktimaan. The character of Shaktimaan, according to Mukesh, is not just a superhero but a figure of wisdom and gravity, not merely a brawler.

Mukesh Khanna emphasised that Shaktimaan’s power and presence are unparalleled, surpassing even well-known international superheroes like Iron Man and Superman. He believes that the new Shaktimaan should possess a certain stature that makes the character believable and inspiring. This high standard set by Mukesh suggests that the casting process might take a considerable amount of time as they search for the perfect actor who embodies the essence of Shaktimaan.

Amidst the anticipation, Mukesh Khanna surprised everyone with a teaser video dressed as Shaktimaan, hinting at his return. This teaser has sparked speculation about whether the original series is being re-released or if Mukesh is planning a new season of the iconic show.
