Aamir Khan, accompanied by his son Junaid Khan, attended the funeral of his ex-wife Reena Dutta's father, who passed away on October 2, 2024. The actor was spotted at Reena's Mumbai residence, where the final rites were held. Junaid was also seen at the venue, offering support during this difficult time.
Kiran Rao was also present for the last rites with Aamir and Junaid.
Aamir and Reena were married on April 18, 1986, and have two children together, Junaid and Ira. Reena played a brief role in Aamir’s early career, including a small part in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, and later worked as an executive producer on his Oscar-nominated film Lagaan.
The couple eventually separated in 2002, with Aamir taking custody of both children.
Despite their separation, they continue to share a cordial relationship. Their son, Junaid, recently made his acting debut with the streaming movie Maharaj, while their daughter, Ira, has chosen a more private life away from the film industry. Ira recently married Nupur Shikhare, Aamir’s former fitness trainer.
Reena’s involvement in Aamir’s life extended beyond their marriage, particularly in the early stages of his career. After their divorce, Aamir went on to marry Kiran Rao in 2005, with whom he has a son, Azad Rao Khan, born via surrogacy in 2011. Aamir and Kiran announced their separation in 2021 but continue to co-parent Azad.
On the work front, Aamir Khan was last seen in his passion project Laal Singh Chaddha, the official Bollywood adaptation of the Tom Hanks film Forrest Gump. Despite high expectations, the film did not perform well at the box office.
However, Aamir is now gearing up for his next venture, Sitaare Zameen Par, directed by RS Prasanna and co-produced by Kiran Rao. The film, based on the Spanish movie Champions, also stars Genelia Deshmukh. Principal photography for Sitaare Zameen Par took place over four months in India, with its release eagerly awaited.
