Reacting to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Navneet Rana’s “15-second lagenge” remark, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi said on May 9 that if Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government wishes to render them (Muslims) as the Jews in Nazi Germany, then so be it. “Let them do what they want to do…,” Owaisi said.
He asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give Rana one hour instead of 15 seconds and asserted that they are not “afraid”.
The AIMIM chief said, “Mr Modi is the Prime Minister; the party is in power in so many states. They have all the resources at hand. Let the PM give them one hour… let them do what they want to. You want to make us like the Jews in Germany? please do it. You want to take us to gas chambers? please do it. Tell us the place and time we will come do whatever you want, why 15 seconds take one hour.”

Speaking to CNN-News 18, he added, “If it gives them the sadistic pleasure, let them do it.”
Campaigning for the BJP candidate Madhavi Latha in Telangana, Navneet had said that the Owaisi brothers won't even know what hit them if the police was removed for just 15 seconds.
“The younger brother says, remove the police for 15 minutes, then we’ll show them what we can do. I want to tell them: Dear younger brother, 15 seconds police hata lo, dono ko pata nahin lagega ki wo kahan se aaya aur kidhar ko gaya (it might take you 15 minutes, but it will only take us 15 seconds. If the police are removed for 15 seconds, neither the young nor the old will know where they came from or where they went),” she said.
She was referring to the highly controversial remark made by Akbaruddin in 2013, who warned "100 crore Hindus" that his community would show what it could do if the police were withdrawn for '15 minutes'.
Owaisi then went on to ask where does such a statement leave PM Modi’s “sabka saath, sabka vikaas” agenda and what is the Election Commission or the local police doing about it, why is the model code of conduct not being invoked in this case.
Speaking further on communally charged statements made at recent election rallies, including the “mangalsutra” remark, he pointed out that the top leaders of the saffron party have made such comments. He said they are no longer talking about $5 trillion economy or Chandrayaan and UNSC membership, because now they are highlighting their “original agenda”, which involves stoking communal sentiments and creating hatred between communities by projecting “Muslims as monsters”.
“The BJP wants to create an atmosphere of communal hatred to mobilize the majority community’s votes,” Owaisi added.
In the ongoing 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Asaddudin Owaisi is facing a challenge from BJP's Madhavi Latha in Hyderabad.
