BJP Election Manifesto 2024 key highlights: Top poll promises made by party in 'Sankalp Patra'

With just five days remaining until the commencement of the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled its election manifesto on April 14 morning.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president JP Nadda, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and other senior party members were present at the launch of the manifesto - "Sankalp Patra," - at the party headquarters in Delhi.

The manifesto release coincided with the birth anniversary of BR Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution and a prominent leader from the Dalit community.

The ruling party has made a multitude of commitments in its "Sankalp Patra". Addressing the audience at the BJP headquarters, PM Modi credited the government schemes and programmes for "transformation that has taken place in the lives of the people" and called it "the biggest achievement of our government over the last 10 years".

A quick look at the key promises announced:

  • The Ayushman Yojana will now cover individuals aged 70 and above, while the Mudra scheme's loan cap is set to increase to 20 lakh rupees under PM Modi's directive.
  • Upon their return to power, the BJP pledges to enact the Nyaya Sanhita nationwide.
  • Railway improvements highlighted in the announcement include tackling waiting lists and advancing bullet train projects in the Northeast.
  • Future commitments encompass the development of 5G and 6G technologies, alongside achieving energy self-sufficiency.
  • Transgender individuals will be integrated into the Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
  • The network of Garima Grahas will be expanded to uplift the transgender community, alongside issuing identity cards for their recognition nationwide.
  • The forthcoming five years will prioritise and honour women's participation and contributions.
  • Women will receive training in IT, tourism, education, healthcare, and retail sectors.
  • Rural women will also have the opportunity to train as drone pilots through the NaMo Drone Didi Yojana.
  • A comprehensive strategy for disaster management and resilience in the Himalayan states is pledged due to the fragile ecosystem and increased natural disasters.
  • The BJP's manifesto includes establishing an Anusandhan Fund with a 1 lakh crore rupee investment to promote scientific research.
  • Simplifying state-level regulations and collaborating with state governments to reduce compliance burdens for small traders and MSMEs is on the agenda to enhance their ease of living and conducting business.
  • Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas will be observed to celebrate the significant contributions of tribal communities, with the year 2025 declared as Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh.
  • The PM Suraj Portal will offer accessible credit facilities to eligible individuals to support their livelihood.
  • 740 Eklavya Model Residential Schools will be established to prioritize the education of tribal children, with efforts to expedite the construction and operation of the remaining schools.
  • Slash electricity bills for millions of families and provide income opportunities through electricity by banking on the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme.
  • Continue the benefits of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi for 100 million farmers.
  • Prioritise 'Shree Anna' to position India as a top global nutrition hub.
  • Over the next five years, the PM Kisan scheme's benefits will remain, and the 'Rashtriya Sahkariti Niti' roll-out will boost India's global nutrition leadership, focusing on millets.
  • Under the PM Mudra Yojana, the loan limit is to be doubled to Rs 20 lakh, along with ramped-up efforts for the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
  • Establishment of 30 million new homes and ensuring gas connections for all households nationwide.
  • In addressing health concerns, the treatment of cervical cancer, breast cancer, osteoporosis, and other ailments is a key focus.
  • Offer official Yoga certification to individuals from other countries.

The manifesto drafting process incorporated inputs from both online contributors and individuals engaged through offline party efforts, as previously announced by PM Modi. The BJP actively sought suggestions from diverse demographics, with national president JP Nadda recently launching 'Viksit Bharat Modi ki Guarantee' video vans. These vans traversed the nation, gathering public feedback to shape the party's manifesto content.

PM Modi is vying for a third term in office, aiming to secure over 400 seats for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies. Central to the BJP's election campaign is its development agenda and the pledge to achieve a developed India, termed Viksit Bharat, by 2047. PM Modi and other party leaders have outlined their vision to propel India into the league of the top three global economies.
