Three TDP polling agents who were allegedly kidnapped in Chittoor district were traced and rescued, said Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Mukesh Kumar Meena on Monday.
According to a press release from the Chief Election Officer’s office, the TDP agents were kidnapped from Bokaramanda village in Chittoor district's Sadum mandal, which falls under the Punganuru Assembly constituency.
"TDP district in-charge Jagan Mohan Raju complained that TDP agents belonging to polling stations 188, 189 and 199 were kidnapped by YSRCP leaders while going to the polling stations," said Meena.
Consequently, the Chittoor district election officials and the Police department responded quickly, rescuing the kidnapped agents from Pileru and later enabled them to attend to their duties.
Simultaneous polls for 25 Lok Sabha and 175 Assembly seats are underway in Andhra Pradesh in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections.
Andhra Chief Minister and YSRCP president YS Jagan (Pulivendula), TDP supremo and former CM N Chandrababu Naidu (Kuppam), Janasena chief and actor Pawan Kalyan (Pithapuram) are the key candidates in the fray for the assembly polls in the state.
BJP candidate from Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency in Telangana, Madhavi Latha alleged that "90% of booths are compromised. Police do not want to instruct female constables to check the face with the voter ID. When I asked the police officer, he said it's not his responsibility..."
