Tata Nexon gets new entry-level trim, price starts at Rs 8 lakh

The decision to offer new trims comes at the time when Mahindra has launched its much-awaited 3XO

Tata Motors on Wednesday launched a new entry-level petrol and diesel variants of its compact SUV Nexon at a starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Nexon range will now start at a price of ₹ 7.99 lakhs with the addition of the Smart (O) persona in its petrol lineup. Furthermore, to make the portfolio more attractive for diesel enthusiasts, Tata Motors has introduced its 1.5L, 4 cylinder Revotorq diesel engine in the Smart + and Smart + S persona, with prices starting at ₹ 9.99 lakhs.

A Tata spokesperson at the launch of the new variant said, ‘Since its launch, Nexon has carved a niche for itself attracting customers who always wanted something unique and out of the box, yet delivering on the key tenets of segment best performance and comfort. Its overall package, including its futuristic design, best-in-class safety and exhilarating performance has made it the car of choice for many Indians and its constant evolution over time has made Nexon the reference and benchmark in its segment. Holding strong to the No.1 SUV rank, three years in a row, the Nexon continues to evolve with its diverse range of trims and variants, catering to a large set of buyers.

"In alignment with our New Forever brand promise and our constant endeavour to meet customer demands, we are excited to introduce three new variants in the Nexon portfolio. We identified a market opportunity to be accessible to a larger set of consumers and are now ready to provide them with the experience of India’s best-selling SUV," the statement from spokesperson further added.

The Nexon range comprises of more 62 variants across petrol and diesel versions, catering to a wide spectrum of consumer needs, according to the company.
