Hyundai signs long-term wage settlement with employees' union

Hyundai has signed a three-year wage settlement agreement with the United Union of Hyundai Employees, offering a structured monthly salary hike of Rs 31,000 along with continued employee welfare benefits.

Hyundai Motor India today announced the signing of a long-term wage settlement agreement with the United Union of Hyundai Employees (UUHE). The agreement, concluded on September 17, will remain in effect from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2027.

The settlement includes a monthly salary increase of Rs 31,000, which will be implemented in phases over the three-year period. The increments are structured in the ratio of 55% in the first year, followed by 25% and 20% in the subsequent years.

Alongside the wage hike, Hyundai said it will continue to provide comprehensive employee welfare measures such as health coverage and advanced wellness programmes.

This agreement, built on mutual trust, respect, and constructive dialogue, reflects our shared commitment to fostering a progressive workplace culture that prioritises employee welfare and supports long-term organisational growth," said Youngmyung Park, Function Head - People Strategy, Hyundai Motor India.

UUHE, which was registered in 2011, is the officially recognised representative body of the company's workforce. As of August 31, 2025, UUHE had 1,981 members, representing nearly 90% of the technician and workmen cadre at Hyundai's operations.

Hyundai, which operates its manufacturing facility in Sriperumbudur (Tamil Nadu), was the second largest carmaker in India in FY25 at 5,98,666 units. It was followed by Tata Motors (5,53,585 units) and Mahindra & Mahindra (5,51,487 units).

The carmaker currently offers two electric vehicles (EVs) -- Creta Electric and Ioniq 5. It has 12 internal combustion engine (ICE) models -- Grand i10 Nios, i20, i20 N Line, Aura, Verna, Exter, Venue, Venue N Line, Creta, Creta N Line, Alcazar and Tucson.
