Xiaomi has officially confirmed the rollout of its much-anticipated HyperOS 3 update, which is based on Android 16, putting an end to weeks of speculation about its release. The company teased the announcement with a “3” banner, clarifying that HyperOS 26 rumors were inaccurate.
The update will be unveiled on August 28 in China, with Xiaomi expected to reveal new features, design upgrades, and the rollout schedule for its devices. HyperOS 3 will not only improve overall system performance but also bring a lighter interface, smoother animations, and faster responsiveness—addressing long-standing user feedback about heavy UI layers on Xiaomi devices.
First devices to get HyperOS 3
Xiaomi plans to release the Android 16-based HyperOS 3 update in beta form first, before a stable version arrives later. The initial rollout will target premium devices, particularly those in the Xiaomi 15 series, followed by:
• Redmi K80 Pro and Ultimate Edition
• Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro 12.5
• Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro
The company’s strategy is clear: prioritize its flagship and premium tablets to showcase HyperOS 3’s capabilities, while mid-range devices like the Redmi Note series will need to wait longer.
Stable release timeline
While Google has already rolled out the stable version of Android 16 to Pixel phones, Xiaomi is taking a staggered approach. If everything goes according to plan, the stable HyperOS 3 update for Xiaomi’s flagship models could arrive by mid-September 2025, with wider availability extending over the following months.
