TCS promoted over 25,000 employees in Q3, nearly 20% of workforce elevated this fiscal

The Mumbai-headquartered firm also reported a net decline of 5,370 employees during Q3.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) promoted more than 25,000 employees in the third quarter of FY25, bringing the total promotions for the fiscal to nearly 20 percent, or over 1,10,000, of its workforce, India’s largest IT services firm said in a release on January 9.

“We promoted over 25,000 associates this quarter, which brought the total promotions this financial year to more than 110,000. We continue to invest in employee upskilling and overall well-being. Our campus hiring for the year is going according to plan and preparations are afoot to onboard a higher number of campus hires next year," chief human resources officer Milind Lakkad said.

The Mumbai-headquartered firm also reported a net decline of 5,370 employees during the quarter, marking a reversal after two consecutive quarters of headcount growth.

TCS now employs 6,07,354 people, the company said, as it shared the numbers for the third quarter of FY25.

Attrition during the quarter rose marginally to 13 percent from 12.3 percent in the September quarter.

The IT behemoth said its employees clocked over 4 crore learning hours and acquired 38 lakh competencies year-to-date.

Chief executive officer and managing director K Krithivasan said the company’s continued investments in upskilling, artificial intelligence/generative AI (AI/Gen AI) innovations, and partnerships set it up to capture the promising opportunities ahead.

The IT major reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 12,380 crore in Q3, up 12 percent from year-ago period.

Moneycontrol pegged the IT services bellwether's Q3 net profit at Rs 12,308 crore and revenue at Rs 64,218 crore. The company's revenue rose 6 percent to Rs 63,973 crore.

Ahead of the result, the TCS share closed nearly 1.5 percent lower on BSE at Rs 4,046.
