Sony launches PlayStation Portal Remote Player in India: Key details

Sony has announced the launch of the PlayStation Portal Remote Player in India at a price tag of Rs 18,990.

Sony has announced the launch of the PlayStation Portal Remote Player in India. The Playstation Portal is priced at Rs 18,990 and will be available across Sony Centres, Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, Reliance, Vijay Sales, Blinkit and other participating retailers from August 3, 2024.

As per Sony, the PlayStation Portal Remote Player allows you to play your compatible PS5 console games over your home Wi-Fi with “console quality controls” without the need for a TV.

Sony's PlayStation Portal Remote Player: Key features

  1. An 8-inch full HD LCD screen The PlayStation Portal Remote Player features an 8-inch full HD screen.
2. Capable of 60fps at 1080p resolution
Sony claims that PlayStation Portal Remote Player “can deliver silky smooth gameplay at up to 60fps with high image clarity on its 1080p resolution screen”.

3. Jump into games fast
Sony says that the PlayStation Portal Remote Player will deliver “an incredible remote play experience”. Players need to just turn it on, press a button to connect to their PS5 console and get right to playing with no fuss.

4. TV is not required to play PlayStation games
The PlayStation Portal Remote Player gives you access to the games on your PS5 over your home Wi-Fi, letting you jump right into gaming without needing to play on a TV. However, you should have the game installed on your PS5.

5. Play compatible games from PS5 and PS4
The PlayStation Portal Remote Player can play compatible games you have installed on your PS5 console, including your favourite games for PS5 and PS4.

6. Immersion with DualSense Wireless Controller
The PlayStation Portal Remote Player will let you feel the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers in supported games. “Responsive vibrations react to your in‑game choices and simulate environmental factors. Dynamic resistance mimics the tension of interactions with in‑game gear and objects in select PS5 games”, said Sony in a press statement.
