The Halo series of first-person shooters is going to mark its first appearance on Sony’s PlayStation platform with a new title called “Halo: Campaign Evolved”. Halo: Campaign Evolved is “a faithful yet modernized remake” of the Halo: Combat Evolved campaign in Unreal Engine 5 and will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam and Microsoft Store) in 2026, developer Halo Studios and publisher Xbox Game Studios announced. The game will also be made available on Game Pass.
Brian Jarrard, Community Director, Halo Studios, said in a PS Blog post: “The full campaign returns with every mission enhanced through high-definition visuals and all-new cinematics. We’ve also evolved the gameplay experience itself with smoother controls and movement, as well as improved wayfinding and combat flow. The soundtrack has been fully remastered, while the sound design has been rebuilt to deliver a more immersive experience.”
Along with the full campaign, Halo: Campaign Evolved includes three new prequel missions featuring the Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson. The game's storyline introduces players to the super soldier, the Master Chief and Cortana, his AI companion. For new players, it is the perfect jumping-on point for the Halo sci-fi universe.
Halo: Campaign Evolved supports four-player online co-op and two-player couch co-op on PlayStation and comes with full cross-play and cross-progression across console and PC, which makes it very easy for both old and new players to experience the sci-fi action game together. The Halo campaign remake adds more weapons, vehicles, enemies, and optional gameplay modifiers called “Skulls”.
