Optiemus Infracom Limited has launched RhinoTech, India’s first premium tempered glass screen protector brand made with glass engineered by Corning, setting an ambitious revenue target of Rs 1,800–2,000 crore by the end of FY27. The company is first planning to offer its glass protectors in India and then plans to foray into the Middle East and Europe through partners.
Manufactured at Optiemus’ Noida facility, RhinoTech blends Corning’s global glass innovation with Indian manufacturing expertise.
“The market, though still largely unorganised, is estimated at $2.5–3.2 billion based on sales price. It has the potential to double within the next five years. That’s why we are setting up India’s first factory for tempered glass screen protectors, built to Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) specifications,” Ashok Kumar Gupta, Chairman of Optiemus Infracom Limited, told Moneycontrol. “Globally, the market is valued at around $46 billion.”
India’s domestic tempered glass screen protector market is expected to reach 400 million pieces by 2025. At present, over 90% of demand is met by low-cost imports, resulting in inconsistent quality and an unorganised supply chain.
To tackle this, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) introduced the world’s first standard for “Chemically Tempered Glass Screen Protectors” on July 28, 2025. The standard, which aims to eliminate substandard products, includes parameters for chemical tempering, visual defects, and mechanical strength, including compression and flexural tests.
At present, these protectors are imported from China and Vietnam and sold mainly through unorganised channels. “Now that BIS standards—three years in the making—are in place, we expect the market to become more structured. This, in turn, could generate around Rs 4,000 crore for the government through GST collections.”
Optiemus says the RhinoTech launch is not only a push for Make in India but also a strategic revenue driver that positions the company for aggressive growth in the high-demand mobile accessories market.
Initially targeting the premium smartphone segment, RhinoTech will expand to the economy category in the coming months. Sales will begin in India from September-end through the official RhinoTech website and authorised retail partners.
Sudhir Pillai, Managing Director of Corning India, said, “Partnering with Optiemus brings Indian consumers a screen protector marked Engineered by Corning, supporting the growing demand for high-quality mobile screen protection.”
