iQOO has revealed additional details about its upcoming flagship, the iQOO 15, which will launch as the successor to the iQOO 13. The smartphone is inching closer to launch in China, with the company set to bring upgrades that it hasn’t offered before, particularly in durability and charging. Moreover, the iQOO 15 is confirmed to have a new generation 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, which will help unlock the device quicker and more securely, even if the fingers are wet.
iQOO 15: Expected features, durability details
Earlier this week, in a post on the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, iQOO’s product manager confirmed that the upcoming iQOO 15 will support wireless charging. This is a significant upgrade over the handset’s predecessors, which did not support wireless charging. Further, the iQOO 15 will use a seven-cell Blue Ocean battery design, which would be compliant with the “Global Direct Drive Power Supply 2.0” standard. This technology aims to provide longer battery backup while extending its usage span.
Additionally, the Vivo sub-brand has announced that its upcoming flagship smartphone will come with an IP68 + IP69 rating, similar to the iQOO 13. This means it will be able to withstand extreme weather conditions, providing protection against dust, submersion in water, and even high-pressure water jets.
The iQOO 15 will also introduce a new generation 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. This is expected to deliver faster and more secure unlocking, and is claimed to recognise fingerprints even with wet fingers. The handset is already confirmed to ship with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and is teased to pack a battery with a capacity larger than 7,000mAh.
