Virat Kohli is gearing up once again. The 36-year-old right-hander has resumed training in preparation for India’s upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia in October. Having already retired from T20 internationals and Test cricket, Kohli was last seen in competitive action during IPL 2025, where he finally tasted glory with Royal Challengers Bengaluru after they beat Punjab Kings in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
Speculation about Kohli’s ODI future has been rife. A report in Dainik Jagran suggested that both Kohli and Rohit Sharma could potentially bow out of the format during the series against Australia. The report further noted that the two stalwarts may need to feature in the Vijay Hazare Trophy if they wish to keep their chances alive of playing in the 2027 ODI World Cup, which will be hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
Amid all the chatter, Kohli appears focused only on what he knows best—training. Currently in London, the former India captain was seen practicing in the indoor nets earlier this week. A fan who managed to catch a glimpse of him even clicked a selfie, which quickly went viral.

Not long ago, another photo of Kohli, showing him with a white beard while strolling in London, sparked conversations online about whether he was contemplating retirement. But Kohli quashed those doubts the same day by sharing an Instagram story of himself back at the nets, preparing diligently for the ODIs against Australia.
The India-Australia ODI series is set to kick off on October 19, with matches scheduled in Perth, Adelaide, and Sydney.
