Pakistan on Sunday (August 17) announced their squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. Salman Ali Agha has been named as Pakistan’s captain for the upcoming tri-series in the UAE, followed by the Asia Cup, which will also take place in the same country.

The 17-member squad includes experienced names such as Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, and Faheem Ashraf. Alongside them, emerging talents like Saim Ayub, Hasan Nawaz, and Mohammad Haris are set to showcase their skills on the big stage.

Big names like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan remain dropped from the T20I setup of the Pakistan cricket team.

The 2025 Asia Cup will take place in the UAE from September 9 to September 28. Pakistan are placed in Group A along side UAE, Oman and arch-rivals India. The Men in Green will begin their campaign against Oman on September 12 followed up by a clash against the Men in Blue on September 17.

Pakistan endured a disappointing campaign in the 2023 Asia Cup, played in the ODI format, where they suffered defeats in two of their three Super Four matches and missed out on a spot in the final.

In contrast, during the 2022 edition, Pakistan managed to reach the summit clash but fell short against Sri Lanka, finishing as runners-up.

Before heading into the upcoming Asia Cup, Pakistan will fine-tune their preparations with a T20I tri-series featuring Afghanistan and the UAE.
