Mohsin Naqvi, head of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), has been sent an official email from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) asking for the Asia Cup trophy to be handed over to India. After India refused to accept the winner's trophy from the ACC chief, who is also the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and a minister in the country, he took it with him.
As reported by India Today, BCCI is waiting on a response from Naqvi and will send an official letter to the ICC if he does not respond.

Meanwhile, as reported earlier, the trophy is at the ACC headquarters in Dubai, which cited a source close to Naqvi. “As of today the trophy is still in ACC offices in Dubai with clear instructions from Naqvi that it should not be moved or handed over to anyone without his approval and in-person presence," a source close to Naqvi was quoted as saying to PTI on October 10, 2025. “Naqvi has given clear instructions that only he will hand over the trophy in person (whenever that happens) to the Indian team or BCCI," the source added.
Naqvi has previously stated that he will personally present the trophy to the Indian squad or the BCCI, whenever that happens.
India-Pakistan animosity characterised the Asia Cup, as both sides made politically charged gestures. The Indian players refused to shake hands with the Pakistan counterpart during the competition. Pakistan players, on the other hand, resorted to provocative gestures and subsequently Naqvi posted political remarks on his social media accounts as well.
