Asia Cup 2025: In what comes as a major boost ahead of the 2025 Asia Cup, India's fast-bowler Jasprit Bumrah has confirmed his availability to the selectors as per an Indian Express report. Bumrah's fitness was in doubt after he was released from the squad early during the recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar trophy.
He played 3 of the 5 Tests against England in order to manage his workload. He missed out on the series decider and many reports claimed that he got injured again.
“Bumrah has informed the selectors that he will be available for Asia Cup selection. The selection committee will meet and discuss it when they meet next week," the newspaper report quoted a source as saying.
The BCCI selectors are expected to announce the squad on August 19 in Mumbai. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar is expected to address the press.

“Instead of having a camp here, the team will fly three-four days early so that they can get decent practice before the tournament starts," the newspaper’s source said.
What about Suryakumar Yadav?
India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has successfully cleared his fitness assessment at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, just ahead of the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee’s meeting to finalize the Asia Cup squad. The dynamic batter, who last played in the IPL where he earned the Player-of-the-Series award, had undergone surgery in June for a sports hernia in the lower-right abdomen at Munich, Germany.
“Fitness tests are mandatory before Return to Play (RTP) post-surgery. Surya has cleared the fitness test,” a BCCI official confirmed to PTI.

Following his surgery, Yadav had informed his fans via Instagram, writing: “Life Update: Underwent surgery for a sports hernia in the lower-right abdomen. Grateful to share that after a smooth surgery, I'm already on the road to recovery. Can’t wait to be back.”
Now fully fit, the star batter is expected to join the selection panel’s meeting in Mumbai on Tuesday.
The Asia Cup 2025 is scheduled in the UAE from September 9 to 28. India will kick off their campaign against the hosts on September 10, followed by the much-anticipated clash with Pakistan on September 14, both matches set to take place in Dubai.
