Samantha Ruth Prabhu consumes 100g protein daily! Here are 3 vegetarian foods that make it possible.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu has taken to fitness in a big way. In a recent podcast, she revealed consuming 100 grams of protein a day, which is double her body weight. In response, nutritionist Rashi Chowdhary revealed three foods that help sneak in 60 to 80 grams of protein; the amount an Indian woman with an average weight of 55 to 60 kg needs.

She added, “Yes, macros will look different. Veg protein sources often come with more carbs (and sometimes fats) than non-veg for the same protein, so build your plate accordingly.” The nutritionist also specified that it may not be possible for many to jump to 2 g/kg, and hence a gut cleanse is first needed “to rebuild the gut lining, which eventually helps with protein tolerance.”

What happens when you add protein to a weak gut? It leads to inflammation and increased gut issues like bloating and constipation. However, when taken the right way, it has multiple health benefits, such as keeping you full longer, increasing muscle mass, boosting metabolism, promoting weight loss, and improving bone density, among others.

3 Veg Foods Rich in Protein

200 grams of hung curd: It is known to be an excellent probiotic, which is great for your gut health, bone health, and digestion. The micro-organisms help digest food by breaking down complex nutrients such as proteins, carbohydrates, and fats into simpler forms that your body can absorb more easily. It also regulates cholesterol and keeps your blood pressure in check. It’s rich in protein and calcium and contains far less sodium and carbohydrates.

150 grams of paneer: Yet another vegetarian food loaded with healthy fats and proteins. It is low in carbs, which makes it ideal for weight loss. Paneer has many health benefits and helps with bone health, boosting immunity, and more. It’s also a rich source of vitamins, proteins, and minerals. It can be consumed in a number of simple and quick ways.
