The IPL 2025 match between the Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium was somewhat delayed on Wednesday as the umpire reprimanded captain Sanju Samson in the middle of the game. The incident occurred near the end of Delhi's innings as the hosts set a target of 189 runs against Rajasthan.
The incident occurred when Jofra Archer bowled Ashutosh Sharma a slower bouncer on the last ball of the penultimate over. Before the on-field match officials came up to Samson to give him a warning, the umpire promptly indicated that the ball was wide.

Samson was then nearly on the edge of the 30-yard circle, according to the delivery's replay. Samson was seen enthusiastically describing his views as the umpires had a brief conversation with the Rajasthan captain.
Former England cricketer Graeme Swann said on air: "You can't do that. You have to be in a place to catch the ball. You can't go and stand on the edge of the ring, even though it's Jofra Archer. And that's what Samson will be saying now. He bowls 147. Mate, this is where I've got to stand.”
"But you can't just do it for that one delivery. It's a bit obvious. Just in case the wicket turns into WACA all of a sudden. That's absolutely not going to happen here at the Arun Jaitley Stadium," he laughed.

Delhi posted 188/5 thanks to a team batting effort, with Abishek Porel leading the way with a cool-headed 49. Axar Patel's scorching 13-ball 34 and Tristan Stubbs' (34 no off 18 balls) late push gave the final flourish in an innings when momentum bounced between the two sides like a pendulum after Porel and KL Rahul (38) established a strong platform with a 63-run partnership.
