WPL 2024: Meg Lanning, captain of Delhi Capitals, breaks into tears after losing to RCB.

Delhi Capitals captain Meg Lanning broke into tears after the team lost second straight title against the RCB in Women’s Premiere League (WPL) 2024.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won their maiden trophy in the WPL 2024 beating Delhi Capitals in the final played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Five-time world cup winning captain, Meg Lanning, who led the Delhi Capitals, was seen teary-eyed after the second straight loss in the finals for DC. Delhi Capitals ended up last season as a runner-up after losing to Mumbai Indians in the final.

Delhi Capitals got off to a prolific start in the final of the WPL 2024 scoring 64 runs in the first seven overs batting first in the final. However, they faced a monumental collapse as they lost 10 wickets for just 49 runs scoring a total of 113 against the RCB.

The Delhi Capitals were able to stretch the game till last over, but the target never seemed to bother the RCB during their chase in the final of WPL 2024.

The Capitals topped the points table last year and qualified for the finals. They replicated their heroics this season as well but lost to RCB in the final.

A heartbroken Lanning was seen in tears as she tried to hold them back. Lanning was seen covering her face with a towel to hide her emotions from the world. She was helplessly watching the proceedings as her team lost the all-important game, final of WPL 2024.

Ellyse Perry was awarded the Orange Cap for scoring 347 runs in the season while Shreyanka Patil won the Purple Cap for her 13 wickets in this season. Deepti Sharma from RCB was adjudged the Most Valuable Player (MVP) as the team also clinched Fairplay Award.
