Gujarat Titans (GT) are wearing lavender jersey for the IPL 2025 encounter against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), which is currently underway at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The hosts won the toss and invited LSG to bat first.
Meanwhile, the lavender jersey by Titans is to show their support towards cancer awareness and the franchise have done the same in the previous editions too. This is the third instance when GT have swapped to lavender instead of the usual dark blue to “demonstrate solidarity with cancer patients”.
GT had done the same against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the previous edition and the year before they wore the jersey against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Gujarat have already qualified for the playoffs and are currently leading the IPL 2025 charts. Lucknow, on the other hand, are already eliminated. However, they can still inflict some damage on Gujarat and dash their Top 2 ambitions. Only teams finishing first and second after the league stage get a second lifeline in case of a hiccup at the playoffs.
Meanwhile, Gill at the toss said: "We want momentum heading into the qualifiers, these two games are going to be equally important."
When asked about his partnership with Sai Sudharsan at the top, the GT skipper stated: "The way we compliment each other is great, we don't have conversations on who will take down the bowlers. We just play with a positive intent and stay in the moment."
