Hardik Pandya's captaincy for Mumbai Indians has begun on a disastrous note. MI have lost all three matches they have played in the IPL 2024 so far. The franchise decided to remove Rohit Sharma as the team's skipper ahead of the ongoing IPL 2024 season.
Mumbai Indians lost their three games against Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals.
Hardik Pandya is also facing a backlash from the fans who have been upset about the change in captaincy and the team's poor performance in the tournament.
Hardik was traded-in by MI ahead of the current edition from Gujarat Titans where he led the team for two seasons, including a title win in 2022.
Talking about the captaincy issue and MI's winless run so far, former India batsman Manoj Tiwary opines that there are chances that Rohit Sharma can be made the captain of MI again.
Taking the discussion forward Tiwary said that these franchises don't hesitate in taking calls. They took a huge call when they took the captaincy from Rohit Sharma and gave it to Hardik. It was a big decision as Rohit had won 5 IPL titles for MI. Now there is a situation where MI haven't won a single game and there are questions being raised on the captaincy as well.
Tiwary added that Hardik opted not to bowl in home game against Rajasthan where there was swing on offer in both innings but he bowled in the first two matches where there were comparatively flat pitches. This shows that Hardik is under pressure.
Tiwary reiterated that Rohit Sharma could be given back the captaincy from Hardik Pandya.
MI's next match is a home game against Delhi Capitals in Mumbai this Sunday.
