Irritated Mitchell Starc asks fan to 'go away' at airport due to privacy breach

Australia and Delhi Capitals (DC) fast-bowler Mitchell Starc was not happy after a fan breached his privacy at the New Delhi airport. The incident took place after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was suspended for a week due to the border tensions between India and Pakistan.

Starc played for the Delhi Capitals in the ongoing IPL season and picked up 14 wickets from 11 matches. He returned back home to Australia after the league was suspended on May 9.

In a viral video, the Australia cricketer can be seen carrying his luggage into the trolley to enter the airport when a fan approaches him to shoot a video. Starc in reply told the fan to 'go away' and has received mix reactions on social media. While some fans lashed out at the person breaching Starc's privacy, others felt the fast-bowler was rude.

Mitchell Starc has officially opted out of returning for the remainder of IPL 2025, dealing a major blow to Delhi Capitals. The 35-year-old pacer confirmed his decision on Friday, May 16, leaving DC in a challenging position as they head into the business end of the tournament.

Adding to their woes, Jake Fraser-McGurk—another key Australian in the Capitals camp—will also not be rejoining the squad. The dynamic opener has been replaced by Bangladesh left-arm seamer Mustafizur Rahman. However, Mustafizur's immediate availability is uncertain, as he is currently committed to a T20I series against the UAE, beginning May 17. There is no official word on when he will link up with the squad led by Axar Patel.

The Delhi Capitals are currently placed fifth on the points table, with six wins, four losses, and one no-result. They are set to resume their campaign on Sunday, May 18, with a crucial clash against table-toppers Gujarat Titans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. A victory could provide much-needed momentum for DC, who last tasted success on April 22 against the Lucknow Super Giants.
