After a quiet show in the IPL 2025 so far, Yuzvendra Chahal on Tuesday sent opposition a reminder of his abilities as he derailed the Kolkata Knight Riders single-handedly in Mullanpur, Chandigarh. Chahal scalped four wickets and spun the match into Punjab's favour, which until then was majorly tilted towards KKR. Chahal's feat saw him join Sunil Narine on top of the list featuring most four-plus wickets in the IPL.
Chasing a modest 112, Kolkata were well on course towards a win until Shreyas Iyer introduced Chahal. He started by breaking the 55-run stand between Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi, reducing KKR to 62/3 in the 8th over.
With the likes of Venkatesh Iyer, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, and Ramandeep Singh still to follow, it always felt that KKR had the match in their hands. However, Chahal's injections in the middle overs accompanied with wickets from Glenn Maxwell and Marco Jansen ensured Punjab finished the match with two points, pushing them fourth on the table.
RJ Mahavash, who has now been spotted with the spinner on numerous occasion, leading to link-up rumours between the two, was quick to celebrate Chahal's feat. While she was not present at the venue, she took to social media and called the turn of events "Asambhav! (impossible)".
Mahavash's post reflected admiration, which also had "what a talented man" and "highest wicket-taker for a reason" written on it.

Just before the start of the IPL 2025, Chahal completed his divorce proceedings with actor/choreographer Dhanashree Verma, whom he had married in December 2020. Meanwhile, both Chahal and Mahavash have refrained from saying anything on the speculations.
Chahal in IPL 2025
Chahal didn't have the best start to the season and was hammered for 56 in four overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad, during which PBKS failed to defend 245. In fact before the start of the match against KKR, Chahal only had two scalps from five matches.
"In the last game I conceded 56 for 4 overs but I had full confidence and backed myself and my abilities. I always have the mindset of how to get the batters out, I varied my pace and if they have to hit, they will have to make an effort," said Chahal after being named the Player of the Match.
"It's my first man of the match for Punjab, I'm confident if I keep backing my skills and believe in myself, then I will get success," the spinner added.
