Arjun Tendulkar, son of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, is all set to start a new chapter in his career, one that could possibly pave way for more stardom if everything goes well. The 26-year-old has been traded by Mumbai Indians (MI) to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for his existing fee of Rs 30 lakh.

The development comes after Arjun spent three seasons with the five-time IPL champions but remained mostly on the fringes. Considering the legacy and amount of talent the franchise boasts, it would always have been difficult for a rookie as Arjun to break into the playing XI.

However, he did get his chances, particularly in the 2023 edition, but failed to create any lasting impact. In the five matches he played for MI, Arjun registered just three scalps at an economy of 9.37, and with the bat amassed 13.

The case could be different in LSG under the wings of seasoned Indian pacer Mohammed Shami. Lucknow is home to a young generation of pacers comprising Mayank Yadav, Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan, Prince Yadav, and Akash Singh, unless there are further additions at the mini-auction.

In his social media post, Arjun expressed gratitude at the time he spent at MI, where he shared the dressing room with some of the legends of the sport. At the same time, his caption also indicated a sense of excitement on this new venture.

"@mumbaiindians, thank you for the memories. It’s been an honour wearing the badge and being part of the team. Can’t wait to join @lucknowsupergiants, see you soon," he wrote.

Meanwhile, if we switch focus to his father and icon Sachin Tendulkar, the 'Master Blaster' made 78 appearances before hanging his boots and taking up the mentorship role at the franchise. He amassed 2334 runs at a decent average of 34.84 and strike rate of 119.82. Sachin also has a ton under his name apart from 13 half-centuries that he smashed in an IPL career spanning from 2008 to 2013.
