Bollywood has always been fascinated by stars who defy convention, and Akshaye Khanna has quietly done that for decades. At 50, the actor remains as enigmatic as ever, choosing silence over spectacle and routine over reinvention. After the massive success of Dhurandhar, and the praise he received for portraying Rehman Dakait, Khanna once again slipped into what many describe as his “zen mode,” largely staying away from public appearances.
In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, the actor opened up about his lifestyle, revealing a refreshingly uncomplicated approach to food, sleep, and daily habits. One revelation that stood out instantly was his relationship with breakfast or rather, the complete absence of it.
“For as long as I can remember, even today, I never eat breakfast,” Akshaye shared. “I go straight to lunch and then dinner, and even between lunch and dinner, I don’t eat anything at all, not even a sandwich or a biscuit. In the evening, I just have a cup of tea, that’s it.”
Unlike many actors who follow rigid fitness regimes, Khanna made it clear that discipline for him does not mean deprivation. “I don’t practise a strict diet,” he said, explaining that balance matters more than rules. His meals are simple, predictable, and rooted in everyday comfort rather than fads.
“For lunch, I mostly eat dal and rice with one vegetable and one chicken or fish or some non-veg dish,” he explained. “At night, I usually eat roti with one vegetable and one chicken dish, and that’s what I mostly eat.”
Sleep, according to Akshaye, is non-negotiable. He revealed that he sleeps “about 10 hours a day,” a rarity in an industry known for erratic schedules and late nights. What’s striking is that this routine remains unchanged even when he is not working. “It’s the same even when I am not shooting, there is no difference,” he added.

Despite his controlled routine, the actor is unapologetically honest about his indulgences. “My favourite foods are lychee, bhindi and cake. I can eat anything sweet,” he admitted with a smile, reminding fans that restraint and enjoyment can coexist.
Meanwhile, Dhurandhar continues to dominate conversations. The spy thriller follows the journey of an Indian operative infiltrating terror networks rooted in Lyari. Alongside Akshaye, the film features Ranveer Singh as undercover spy Hamza Ali Mazari, with pivotal roles played by Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Rakesh Bedi, and newcomer Sara Arjun.
