Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 schedule out

Cricket Australia On Tuesday announced that Perth would be the venue for the inaugural Test of the much-anticipated five-match series between India and Australia in November. The series will culminate with the traditional New Year's Test held in Sydney.

The sides' first five-Test series in over 30 years will commence at Perth Stadium on November 22. The series' second match will be a day-night Test held in Adelaide on December 6, followed by the third match at the Gabba in Brisbane on December 14. The fourth match will be played in Melbourne on December 26, famously recognised as "Boxing Day." The series will conclude with the fifth Test will be played in Sydney on January 3, 2025.

Australia has been unable to secure victory over India in a home Test series since 2014-15, suffering defeats in both the 2018-19 and 2020-21 series.

Moreover, Australia emerged triumphant against India in last year's World Test Championship final and the 50-overs World Cup final.

Cricket Australia has also unveiled the schedule for the Women's Ashes between Australia and England, commencing with an ODI in Sydney on January 12.

Peter Roach, CA's scheduling head, highlighted the significance of Perth's favourable broadcast time zone in choosing it over Brisbane for the first Test. He noted the national team's preference for starting series at comfortable venues, seeing both Perth and Brisbane as comparable in advantages. Roach emphasised the challenging nature of their pitches and the advantageous nature of day-night Tests in Adelaide. Despite differing opinions on the schedule, Roach expressed confidence in competing against India. Reflecting on India's past resilience after a pink ball Test loss, Roach sees the upcoming series as an opportunity to excel.
