Maha Kumbh 2025: Third Amrit Snan Today at Prayagraj - Akharas Lead the Holy Dip

The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 continues to captivate devotees and spiritual leaders alike as the third 'Amrit Snan' takes place at the holy Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj. The occasion coincides with Basant Panchami, a day regarded as auspicious for spiritual renewal and worship, particularly of Goddess Saraswati.

Saint Chinmayanand Bapu lauded the meticulous preparations, emphasizing the spiritual significance of Basant Panchami for students. “A holy dip on this day ensures success,” he remarked. Similarly, Swami Kailashanand Giri of the Niranjani Akhara credited Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for ensuring seamless arrangements for the 13 Akharas participating in the snan.

Akharas Lead Royal Processions

The sacred bathing began at 4 am with the Sanyasi Sect Akharas, including Shri Panchayati Akhara Mahanirvani and Shri Panchdashnam Juna Akhara, leading the way. The Naga sadhus, known for their ash-smeared bodies and spiritual discipline, showcased their unique rituals and weapon-handling skills, adding a vibrant dimension to the event.

As of Monday morning, over 6.22 million devotees had taken a dip in the Sangam. Officials estimate that the total count of bathers since the start of the Mela has crossed 35 crore and is expected to exceed 50 crore by the event's conclusion. The influx of devotees prompted the district administration to declare a holiday in Prayagraj to maintain law and order.

International devotees, including over 200 participants from various countries, expressed awe at the event's spiritual energy. Rajeshwari Maa, a revered Mahamandaleshwar, shared her vision of spreading Sanatana Dharma globally, while Mahamandaleshwar Shri Devi Maa from South America called the experience a "blessing" for elevating consciousness.

Enhanced Security Measures

In the wake of last week's tragic stampede, which claimed 30 lives, the UP government has ramped up security. The Kumbh Command and Control Centre, equipped with over 3,000 CCTV cameras, is monitoring 25 sectors and 30 pontoon bridges to ensure the safety of all attendees. "Operation Eleven" has been implemented to manage the crowd effectively.

Giri Acharya Mahamandaleshwar of Juna Akhara highlighted the event’s significance in fostering harmony. “People of different views and religions come together here, showcasing India’s spiritual strength,” he said. He also emphasized India’s leadership role in promoting yoga, Ayurveda, and spirituality worldwide.

Basant Panchami and Spiritual Renewal

Basant Panchami, celebrated as the birth anniversary of Goddess Saraswati, holds special importance at the Maha Kumbh. Devotees believe that a holy dip on this day purifies the soul and brings blessings of knowledge and wisdom.

The Maha Kumbh 2025 continues to embody India’s spiritual and cultural essence, attracting millions to Prayagraj for a transformative experience. As the third Amrit Snan concludes, the event stands as a remarkable testament to faith, unity, and meticulous organization.
