As the country gears up to celebrate Gudi Padwa, Ugadi Festival, Telugu New Year's Day, and Sajibu Nongmapanba on Tuesday, banks will remain closed on for multiple days this week and the next. All national banks, including the State Bank of India (SBI), have five back-to-back holidays from April 9 to April 14 for Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, Telegu New Year, Bohag Bihu and Eid. April 13 is the second Saturday of the month when banks are usually shut and April 14 is a Sunday.
In some states, April 15 and 16 are also bank holidays for Bohag Bihu, and Ram Navami. Customers are advised to check with their nearest bank branches to confirm local and state holiday leaves to avoid confusion and inconvenience.
States in which banks will work only three days this week -- Monday, Wednesday, and Friday -- are Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Manipur, Goa, Jammu and Srinagar.
Here are the details of other bank holidays in April:
April 10: Banks in Kerala will be closed for Ramzan-Id (Id-Ul-Fitr).
April 11: Banks are closed in most states for Ramzan-Id (Id-Ul-Fitr) except in Punjab's Chandigarh, Sikkim, Kerala, and Himachal Pradesh.
April 13: Banks will be shut in Tripura, Assam, Manipur, Jammu and Srinagar for Bohag Bihu, Cheiraoba, Baisakhi, Biju Festival.
April 15: Banks in Assam Assam and Himachal Pradesh will stay closed for Bohag Bihu and Himachal Day.
April 16: Banks will be closed in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Chandigarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh for Shree Ram Navami.
April 20: Banks in Tripura will stay shut for Garia Puja.
