Super Bowl 2024 brought a flurry of captivating commercials featuring celebrities, attempting to be not just entertaining but also to leave a lasting impact on viewers. Advertisers spared no expense in vying for audience attention during America’s biggest annual sporting event. The big game is the US advertising industry's biggest event of the year.

Companies shelled out an average of $7 million for 30 seconds in front of an audience that reached 115 million last year. This year, top brands competed for buzz and the audience’s attention with pop megastar Taylor Swift, who flew in to see boyfriend Travis Kelce play.

Here are 5 Super Bowl 2024 commericals that stole the show:

Uber Eats
The viral Uber Eats ad shows people forgetting things so they remember Uber Eats can deliver a wide variety of items. "Friends" stars Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer reunite in the ad which also features British super couple David and Victoria Beckham. Aniston seemingly forgets she ever worked with Schwimmer on the iconic sitcom for a decade.

Verizon
In the commercial for American telecom giant Verizon, Beyonce repeatedly tries to "break the internet” with her various attempts which included a "Barbie" spoof, the singer's edition of AI, she purportedly running for the US president, a space voyage. The ad closes with the line: "Drop the music." Beyonce broke the internet moments later when she announced on Instagram that she will be dropping her new album in March.

Dunkin Donuts
Ben Affleck returns to the Dunkin Donuts ad a year after his viral Super Bowl commercial for the donut chain. The spot has Affleck crashing wife and singer-actor Jennifer Lopez's studio session, proclaiming, “Here comes the Boston massacre! The Dun-Kings!” The ad also stars Matt Damon and Tom Brady and Jack Harlow. Affleck tries to impress Lopez with his vocals and fails miserably. This year’s ad was a role reversal of sorts as last year’s ad had Lopez crashing Affleck’s ad. The Oscar-winner was featured as a drive-through worker -- who is, naturally, immediately recognised by customers and asked for pictures. Then came Lopez, rolling down her car window and asking her husband: "Is this what you do when you say you're going to work all day?"

Michelob Light
Lionel Messi is the star of the commercial for beer brand Michelob Light. The ad also features NFL legend Dan Marino and "Ted Lasso" star Jason Sudeikis.

Microsoft Copilot
Microsoft’s ad, “co-directed” by AI (artificial intelligence), plugs the software giant’s newly relaunched free AI chatbot Copilot. The commercial highlights how Copilot enables people to do things the world though they would not be able to attain. The ad features Chatbot helping a budding entrepreneur turn a fledgling idea for a new product into an actionable business plan, filmmaker turning his concept into a rich set of storyboards using AI and a fantasy football player’s team come to life with a mascot image.
