Move over vada pav and dabeli, a recent food fad shows a shopkeeper in Gujarat offering its customers butter-fried pav with ice-cream. A video of the dish being made, recorded by Ahmedabad-based food vlogger Trivedi Mayur is now viral on social media.

The video left watchers bewildered.

"Pure Gujrati samaj ki taraf se me mafi mangta hu bhayo behno [Brothers and sisters, I apologise to you on behalf of the entire Gujarati community]," wrote an Instagram user while another said, "Why ruin the ice-cream? complained another.

Speaking of unusual food combinations, a few other dishes that caught the internet's attention this year include vodka aloo paratha and chocolate peas.

Instagram food vlogger @roopfitnessfoodiee shared the process of making the parathas by mixing flour with vodka instead of water. Moreover, instead of frying it in oil, she proceeded to roast the paratha in vodka.

On the other hand, mixing chocolate with peas was a Singapore-based food vlogger's idea. In the once-viral video, Calvin Lee was seen adding frozen peas to a block of chocolate before putting it in the microwave. Once the chocolate melted, the man mixed the peas into it.

After trying out the dish, the vlogger remarked that "slightly chewy and tasted uncomfortable". “It’s not terrible, but it’s not good either," he said.

Commenting on the video, an Instagram user “Maybe you should have used warm water to melt the chocolate. Chocolate in one bowl stacked on a bowl of hot water to melt the peas." Another user added, “When you are on a diet but also want to eat something sweet."
