Destination weddings are super grand and quite in fashion. From royal weddings in Rajasthan to fun beach weddings in Goa or Thailand, couples are opting for destination weddings more and more these days. However, this duo from Gujarat and Kerala had some other things on their mind. Their destination wedding was held in freezing temperatures in Himachal Pradesh's Spiti. Moreover, it was a first-of-its-kind event in the region.
The video was shared by Ajay Banyal, assistant public relations officer in Himachal Pradesh’s government on X. The clip showed the couple, dressed in all their finery, tying the knot in Spiti’s Moorang in -25 degree Celsius. According to an NDTV report, the bride is from Gujarat and works in Mumbai and the groom is from Kerala and has a business in Dubai.

The bride had visited Spiti as a solo traveller in 2021 and 2023. She was mesmerised by the beauty and decided to get married there. They got engaged in Mumbai after dating for 13 years and got married in the snowy valley.

The bride, wearing a heavy lehenga was seen sitting with groom in a sherwani on the mandap. There was snow all around them and it even started snowing at one point during the rituals. They were wearing gloves to protect themselves from the biting cold.
The bride, Arya, told NDTV how difficult it was to convince her family for the destination wedding in Spiti. While the groom wanted to get married in Dubai, the groom's family wanted the wedding in Kerala and Arya's family wanted it in Gujarat.
According to NDTV, the couple also received a certificate by India Book of Records for the longest road trip wedding expedition.
