A Flipkart customer had written of his disappointing experience with the e-commerce company after ordering a Nothing Phone (2a) and receiving a completely different product instead. Delhi-based Malik Tuyyab said he ordered the Nothing Phone (2a) and received a smartphone from the brand Ikall instead.

In spite of having an unboxing video, Flipkart rejected his return request twice.

In a series of tweets shared on X, Tuyyab detailed his experience of trying to return the incorrect device. “I've been trying to return/replace the product since yesterday, but I've received no support from your end,” he wrote.

His first request to return the Ikall device, which retails for around Rs 4,500, as opposed to the Rs 20,000 he paid for the Nothing Phone, was rejected on “whimsical” grounds. A screenshot shared by Tuyyab shows Flipkart informing him that his request for return could not be fulfilled as the “courier service provider has confirmed delivery of the order with the product being intact.”

For his second replacement request, Tuyyab was unable to upload the images required by Flipkart. “All this is happening to me when I'm having the unboxing video of the product,” the disgruntled customer wrote, also sharing the unboxing video.

He later shared an update saying Flipkart also rejected his second replacement request on the same grounds.

The customer said he had filed a third replacement request with Flipkart and a complaint with the National Consumer Helpline. “It's unfortunate that such restrictive return policies push consumers towards offline markets, contradicting the advancements of the modern internet era,” he wrote.

Flipkart has yet to respond to his complaint on X. This, however, is not the first time the e-commerce company has come under the scanner for delivering incorrect products. In 2022, a customer who ordered a laptop from Flipkart received a packet of Ghadi detergent instead.
