A Delhi-based chain of bookstores has united different factions of social media with just one job ad – because everyone can agree that its list of expectations from potential employees is “ridiculous”. Kunzum café and bookstore today shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) announcing vacancies for five roles - graphic designer, video editor, events manager, salesperson and content creator.
Alongside the vacancies, Kunzum announced a list of requirements that candidates must conform to – chief among which was the ability to work at all hours, on any day. “We work weekends, holidays and all hours,” the bookstore chain announced, categorically stating that work from home would not be an option for employees.
The Delhi NCR-based chain also had a slew of personality traits that interested candidates should possess – “Your spirit should always be bubbly, you should smile naturally, and be social enough to chat up strangers,” the post read.
Kunzum is hiring.Full time only, posted in Delhi NCR. We work weekends, holidays and all hours. WFH in NOT an option.

Several people compared the work requirements akin to hiring slaves, with some noting that Kunzum’s declaration of expecting employees to work “weekends, holidays and all hours” stood in violation of India’s labour laws.
