A tragic incident occurred last Saturday when a Chinese acrobat fell 30 feet to her death during a performance. The harrowing video of the incident shows the acrobat and her husband performing a risky maneuver, with the acrobat standing on her husband's feet and grabbing onto his neck while her legs dangled.

The horrifying tragedy happened in the central Anhui province village of Hougao.

The video shows the heartbreaking moment when the acrobat lost her grip and her husband failed to catch her, leading to her plunge to the ground. The acrobat was immediately rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately, she was pronounced dead on arrival.

According to local reports, the couple had been arguing, and the acrobat allegedly refused to wear a safety line during the show. The couple, identified as Sun Moumou and Zhang Moumou, both 37, were experienced performers who often ditched safety lines "for the sake of looking good," according to The Paper.

Zhang later denied fighting with his wife and claimed that they were always happy together. However, he declined to provide further information about the incident, citing the ongoing investigation.

The tragic incident has sparked widespread criticism online, with many people questioning why adequate safety measures were not in place. Several safety measures, including a safety net and a soft pad on the ground, could have prevented the acrobat's death.

Authorities have vowed to conduct an in-depth investigation into the tragedy. The company that runs the show was fined about $7,000 for "holding commercial performances without approval" in 2021, according to Global Times.

Performing dangerous stunts without proper safety measures is not only reckless but also puts the performers' lives at risk. It is crucial for companies to prioritize the safety of their performers and take necessary precautions to avoid such tragic incidents in the future.
