April 17, 2025, marks 21 years since Soundarya's tragic passing. Remembered for her iconic role in Sooryavansham, the talented actress left a lasting legacy in Indian cinema, with fans still mourning her untimely demise in a 2004 plane crash.
Comedian Samay Raina recently joined Tanmay Bhat and Bhuvan Bam on Kaun Banega Crorepati with Amitabh Bachchan. During the show, Samay humorously recalled his experiences of watching *Sooryavansham*, the iconic film featuring Bachchan in a dual role, known for its frequent re-runs on Sony Max.
'Sooryavanshi' and 'Pushpa: The Rise' are superhits, 'Tadap' and 'Roohi' recover investments, 'Antim: The Final Truth' does okay business.
The moment it is announced that a film will be available on OTT just 2-4 weeks post theatrical release, there is a segment of the audience that makes its decision there and then.
'Tadap' made Rs13.5 crore at the box office in just 3 days, 'Antim - The Final Truth' is aiming for Rs40 crore, and 'Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui' is expected to open in the Rs4-5 crore range.
Opening weekend collections for 'Eternals' crossed Rs19 crore at the Indian box office, making it the biggest Hollywood film of 2021 in the country so far.
The opening day numbers have made 'Sooryavanshi' the highest Day 1 grosser in Bollywood in 2020 and 2021.
"I wish Bollywood created more films with multiple heroes... The energy, the banter and the nonstop stories just makes every day so much more enjoyable." - Akshay Kumar
The film is releasing in 3,500 screens in India and 1,200 screens abroad, taking the screen count back to the pre-COVID levels.
Right now, what's important is getting audiences back to the cinema halls. As long as that starts happening at a steady pace, things should fall in place for 2022 as well.
Akshay Kumar is no stranger to the terrorism genre. Ditto for John Abraham, whose 'New York' and 'Batla House' are still among the top 10 Hindi films on terrorism, based on box-office collections.
Earlier, Reliance Entertainment had announced that Akshay's cop drama will hit the theatres on Diwali, while 83 will release on Christmas this year.
