India vs Australia HIGHLIGHTS, 3rd Test Day 4: IND 252/9, trails by 193; India avoids follow on

Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep had an uphill climb at their hands, which was to help India avoid the follow-on. The pair got together when India needed 33 more runs to avoid the follow-on and they did it in the most difficult circumstances. The pair negated the threat of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Nathan Lyon and added 39 off 52 balls for the final wicket, returning unbeaten at Stumps on Day 4. Bumrah (10*), Akash Deep (27*) will resume proceedings from 252/9 when play resumes on the final day. India are trailing by 193 runs but the effort by the duo have certainly raised India's hopes of saving the match. Earlier, Ravindra Jadeja scored 77, while KL Rahul, for whom this tour has been some sort of redemption, made 84. The all-rounder was removed by Cummins, who also dismissed Nitish Reddy for 16(61). Together the pair added 53 runs for the seventh wicket. Rahul was dismissed by Nathan Lyon, courtesy to an absolute blinder by Steve Smith at slips. Smith had earlier dropped Rahul on the first ball of the day. Rahul and Jadeja added 67 runs for the sixth wicket after Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 10. The Indian skipper and Rahul had resumed the proceedings from the overnight score of 51/4, when India were trailing by 394 runs. #indiavsaustralia #indiavsaustralia2024 #testcricket #teamindia #cricket #bordergavaskartrophy

The Indian team is blessed to have the spin twins. Add to it the third spinner, the dangerous Axar Patel, and you have a deadly combination. Who says three’s a crowd?
